Advertising disclosure

How we make money, and the rules that stop it from influencing what we tell you.

Effective

This page explains, in plain terms, how this site earns money and what we do to keep that from bending our reviews. It is written to satisfy the FTC’s Endorsement Guides, but mostly it is here because you should be able to check our incentives yourself.

How we make money

Affiliate commissions. Some links to telehealth providers and pharmacies on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to subscribe or buy, we may receive a commission from that company. It costs you nothing extra — the price you pay is the same as if you had typed the address directly.

That is currently our only revenue source. We do not sell display advertising, we do not publish sponsored posts, and we do not sell your personal data.

What money does not buy

  • Rankings are set before commercial terms are discussed, using the published criteria in our editorial policy.
  • We review companies that pay us nothing. Pharmacies and discount-card routes appear in our comparisons precisely because they are often the cheapest answer, and they earn us nothing.
  • Negative findings stay in. If a service is expensive, hard to cancel, or sells compounded products it does not clearly label as such, we say so — partner or not.
  • Scores are not adjusted after the fact. If a commercial relationship changes, the score does not.

Where disclosure appears

A short disclosure runs in the site header on every page. A fuller one appears at the top of any page containing affiliate links, before the content it applies to — not buried at the bottom.

Why we chose this model

Every funding model for health publishing has a failure mode. Display advertising rewards volume and rewards pages that keep you scrolling. Sponsored content rewards whoever pays. Subscriptions put a paywall in front of safety information that people need.

Affiliate revenue has its own bias — it rewards recommending things people buy. Our counterweight is structural: we keep the cheapest non-commissionable options in every comparison, and we publish the criteria so you can check our reasoning against our incentives.

How to check us

  1. 1Read the editorial policy and see whether the scores on a review match the criteria.
  2. 2Look at whether the cheapest option in a comparison is one that could pay us.
  3. 3Compare our pricing claims against what the provider actually charges today.
  4. 4If something looks wrong, tell us. We publish corrections.
